Two virtual career fairs are being held this week, with students of all disciplines from all UC campuses invited.

Today (May 26), the UC Wide STEM Virtual Career Fair will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., geared toward students seeking STEM career opportunities. And tomorrow (May 27), check out the general UC Wide Virtual Career Fair for non-technical positions. The two-day career fair offers students a chance to meet nationwide hiring representatives real-time in a live, virtual setting.

HOW TO REGISTER

A CareerEco account is required and can be created while signing up:

On Tuesday, technical and scientific internships as well as full-time opportunities are available with a wide range of companies that have registered to participate, such as AT&T, Stanford School of Medicine and Tower Semiconductor. During Wednesday’s UC Wide Virtual Career Fair, registered employers like Caltrans, the Peace Corps and the U.S. Department of State are looking for interns and employees.

So how does a virtual career fair work? An employer will host a chat room where participants can ask questions and converse. Students may enter between one to three rooms at a time. Private chatting is also possible between participants and employers. As with any career fair, it’s a good idea to research organizations you might be interested in applying to. It’s also beneficial to read the FAQs for students, and watch video testimonials by employers and students who have participated. To be especially polished, students can schedule a virtual appointment with a career advisor at the UC Davis Internship and Career Center.
