The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at UC Davis helps students from historically disadvantaged communities prepare for college by understanding what courses to take, how to apply and receive financial aid and how to connect with campus resources.

What is EOP?

Many students do not apply for admission to college because no one in their family has ever attended college or because college seems too expensive. The Educational Opportunity Program strives to improve the access, retention and graduation of students who have been historically disadvantaged, either socially or economically. EOP assists students by providing mentorship, academic programs, financial assistance, counseling/advising and other campus support services. EOP serves California residents from all ethnic backgrounds and Native American students from any state.

EOP Services

As a prospective UC Davis student, Undergraduate Admissions can help you with EOP services related to admission. You may be eligible to have your admission application fees waived and Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deposit deferred.

Once admitted, our Educational Opportunity Program can connect you with services related to orientation, housing, financial aid and other pre-enrollment tasks. Additionally, freshman EOP students are invited to participate in the Special Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP). The program begins in summer and continues through the first two academic years, offering preparatory course work, developing academic skills and providing advising. It helps students adjust academically and socially to the campus by strengthening their learning skills and study habits, and by providing an extensive orientation to campus life.

After you enroll at UC Davis, assistance with academic planning, skill development, career and personal counseling and course tutoring are available upon request from the EOP Information Center.
