With the campus unusually quiet this quarter, UC Davis police have stepped up routine security patrols to prevent vandalism, thefts and break-ins. The 24-hour patrols are carried out by Aggie Hosts, student employees who also provide security for events and, in normal times, the Safe Ride after-hours transportation service (the service is currently suspended).
“The Aggie Hosts have always been vital members of our department,” Police Chief Joe Farrow said. “They serve in many capacities to help keep all of us safe. This is just another example of the contributions they make on a daily basis and our campus communities of Davis and Sacramento should be very proud of the services they provide.”
Most campus buildings are now locked, but some remain open during daytime working hours. Aggie Host patrols are checking that doors remain locked and are not propped open. If they find doors left open that should be locked, they can secure them and if necessary call police officers or Facilities Management for assistance.
Please help by using only main entrances, ensuring doors lock behind you when you enter or leave a building, and not propping open exterior doors. If you see something suspicious, please report it to UC Davis police by calling 530-752-1230. Report malfunctioning doors to the Facilities Work Order Desk by calling 530-752-1655.
