Jan. 28, Wednesday -- Francisco X. Alarcón, award-winning poet, children's author and professor of Spanish and classics at UC Davis, will share a glimpse into the art of crafting words and images that seize our hearts and minds at 10:30 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at UC Davis. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and children. The talks are part of the UC Davis School of Education's Words Take Wing series, now in its fifth year. The series is presented by the Children's Center at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, with additional support from UC Davis Children's Hospital. Alarcón is the author of 10 volumes of poetry. His most recent book of bilingual poetry for children, "Animal Poems of the Iguazú/Animalario del Iguazú," was published by Children’s Book Press of San Francisco last summer.
