Food and coffee operations, Shields Library and the Campus Store are all shutting down for winter break, in line with curtailed campus operations the last two weeks of the year.
The Activities and Recreation Center is already closed, due to public health guidelines. The Coffee House closed last week and will reopen Monday, Jan. 4.
The Memorial Union and Shields Library will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 19, through Sunday, Jan. 3. The library closure includes the 24-Hour Reading Room. Read more about the library’s limited services during winter break.
The Campus Store will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Jan. 1. The Downtown Store, 630 Second St. (at F Street) is open daily with the exception of the university’s winter holidays, Thursday-Friday, Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1 See store hours here.
Residential dining and retail operations will be closed during the break.
Transportation
- Transportation Services — No parking enforcement during winter break, other than restricted spaces, which are subject to enforcement by campus police, Dec. 21-Jan. 3. No motorist assistance services during the break.
- Unitrans — Summer Service continues weekdays through Friday, Dec. 18, and will resume Monday, Jan. 4. Weekend Service (even during the week), Saturday, Dec. 19, through Sunday, Jan. 3, with the exception of the university’s winter holidays, Thursday-Friday, Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1 (no service). Yolobus 42 is an alternative when Unitrans is not running.
- Davis-Berkeley Shuttle — No service Saturday, Dec. 19, through Sunday, Jan. 3.
- Fleet Services — Closed Dec. 19–Jan. 3, including fuel stations, vehicle rentals and service. Self-serve, hourly vehicle rentals will still be available through UCDrive, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Fleet Services customers with vehicle emergencies should call the campus Police Department, 530-752-1727, and police will contact the appropriate Fleet Services personnel.
Information and Educational Technology
- IT Express help desk — Open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 21-23 and 28-30. Call 530-754-HELP (4357). the help desk will be closed on the university’s winter holidays, Thursday-Friday, Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1.
Finance, Operations and Administration
- Facilities Management — Staff will be available to manage urgent issues that impact human or animal health and safety, or threaten research. Call the Customer Experience Center’s support line, 530-752-1655. Nonemergency requests will continue to be managed the Aggie Facilities online work order system.
- Repro Graphics — Open Monday-Wednesday, Dec. 21-23, then closed until Monday, Jan. 4.

Heating and steam notices
For energy savings, temperatures will be allowed to drift in administrative and classroom spaces, Saturday, Dec. 19, to Sunday, Jan. 3. Also: The campus will conduct a test, Wednesday-Sunday, Dec. 23-27, with complete HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) shutdowns in specified buildings, and a curtailment of the campus’s steam system. During these dates everyone on campus is asked to limit their use of autoclaves, cage washers, dishwashers or any other process that requires the use of steam. More information is available here.
