We are down to the last week. One week until Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. We call it a “day,” but nowadays, in the era of mail-in ballots, drop boxes and vote centers, it’s the conclusion of a multiday election.

If you have already voted, great! If not, you can use the postage-paid envelope that came with your ballot and drop it in the U.S. mail. Your ballot must be postmarked no later than Nov. 8, so, if you are mailing it the last day, be sure to check the box you are using to see when the mail will be picked up.

Or submit your ballot right here on campus:

• Official Yolo County drop box — Hunt Hall, 282 Tennis Court Lane (outside, northeast corner of the building, across from the Memorial Union bus terminal), open now and available 24 hours a day, every day. Deadline: 8 p.m. Nov. 8.
• Official Yolo County vote center — Ballrooms A and B at the Activities and Recreation Center, opening this Saturday (Nov. 5) and staying open all weekend and Monday and Tuesday. Hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday through Monday and 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 8. No charge for parking in Lot 25 Saturday and Sunday, but, come Monday and Tuesday, voters will be limited to 30 minutes of free time in "C" spaces.

We’ve got information below on other Yolo County drop box and vote center locations, including three vote centers that are open now, as well as information for those of you voting outside Yolo County.

Drop boxes

In Yolo County, outdoor drop boxes include the one on campus (listed above), one at Davis City Hall, 23 Russell Blvd., and others in West Sacramento and Woodland, all available 24 hours a day. Deadline: 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8. Some drop boxes are indoors, including food markets in Davis, West Sacramento, Winters and Woodland, all available when the markets are open.

Vote centers

You can fill out your ballot or just drop it off at a vote center. In Yolo County, some vote centers opened last Saturday and are open daily through 8 p.m. Nov. 8, for a total of 11 days. Others, including the one at the Activities and Recreation Center, will be open for four days, Saturday through Tuesday, Nov. 5-8.

• Yolo County’s 11-day vote centers are open now, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Monday (Nov. 7), and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 8). There are three:
  • Veterans Memorial Center (multipurpose room), 203 E. 14th St., Davis
  • West Sacramento City Hall (Galleria Rooms 157 and 160), 1110 W. Capitol Ave.
  • Yolo County Administration Building (Room 106), 625 Court St., Woodland
• Yolo County’s four-day vote centers will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through next Monday (Nov. 5-7) and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 8). They include:
  • ARC Ballrooms A and B. If you’re driving, park for free in the spaces reserved for voters in Lot 25 in front of the ARC.
  • Montgomery Elementary School (multipurpose room), 1441 Danbury St., Davis
  • Emerson Junior High School (multipurpose room), 2121 Calaveras Ave., Davis
  • Others in West Sacramento, Winters and Woodland
• All of Yolo County’s vote center locations and hours
• Check with your county elections office for vote centers and hours where you live.

Polling places

Some counties, including San Joaquin, Solano and Placer, still assign voters to polling places. You can find your polling place location on your sample ballot or county elections website.

Live outside the area?

We hope you have already put your ballot in the U.S. mail. If not, and you are a registerd voter in California, you can deliver your ballot to any vote center or polling place in the state, or deposit it in any drop box in the state, and, so long as you do this by 8 p.m. Nov. 8, the county that receives your ballot will forward it to the county elections office where you are registered.

Late registration

If you wish to register, or need to re-register, you can do so and cast your ballot through a process called “same-day voter registration” up to and including Nov. 8. Your vote will be conditional, to be counted only after your registration is validated.
