Please be aware the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory — which means that winds of 35 mph and higher are expected — for the Interstate 80 corridor and southward in the Sacramento Valley through 10 p.m. today (Feb. 17).

The strongest winds are expected this afternoon. The weather service forecasts southeast winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of up to 55 mph this afternoon and early evening.

Impacts may include downed trees or tree limbs and power failures along with difficult driving conditions, especially for small- and high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Please take appropriate precautions and report any problems with buildings or infrastructure to Facilities Management, 530-752-1655 (24 hours).

Cary Avery, associate director of Campus Planning and Environmental Stewardship, said grounds personnel will be working Saturday, and tree trimmers are on call throughout the holiday weekend.

The UC Davis Office of Emergency Management and Mission Continuity will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses.

In an emergency

  • Call 911 for immediate threats to life safety.
  • Contact Facilities Management, 530-752-1655 (24 hours) to report impacts to buildings and infrastructure.
