April 9, Saturday -- Issues of power among players, teams and organizations in professional and collegiate athletics will be explored during a conference on sports law at UC Davis. Speakers include Rich Herczog, director of compliance for UCLA athletics; Daniel Lazaroff, a professor at Loyola Marymount University and director of the Loyola Sports Law Institute; Curt Holbreich, a litigator with an emphasis on sports and media law at the San Francisco law firm of Howard Rice; and Tad Devlin of Gordon & Rees, a civil litigator who defended the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League's salary cap investigation. The conference, free and open to the public, is presented by the Entertainment and Sports Law Society at the School of Law. It will run from noon to 3 p.m. in the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center.
