Two leading China experts will discuss the global giant’s growing political and economic clout during a two-hour presentation starting at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, in Ballroom B of the UC Davis Conference Center.
Minxin Pei, director of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College, will be joined by Wei Zhang, a lecturer on the Chinese economy at Cambridge University.
Zhang was a member of the Chinese government before he resigned after martial law was imposed in 1989. Pei also is an adjunct senior associate in the China Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The two are frequent China commentators for NPR and the BBC.
The talk, “China’s Return: The Changing Global Political and Economic Landscape,” is free and open to the public.
