Governor Jerry Brown made an unscheduled appearance at a symposium on climate change and natural landscapes co-sponsored by UC Davis last week. In his remarks, Brown noted that Californians are already facing serious impacts from climate change, and that we need to compress highly complex impacts and solutions into simple points that can be used to overcome political barriers. 

The March 10 event was co-sponsored by The Nature Conservancy and the UC Davis Policy Institute for Energy, Environment and the Economy. Representatives from government, academia, non-governmental organizations and the private sector discussed how California’s natural landscapes can be used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help the state adapt to its changing climate.

Other speakers included Deputy Cabinet Secretary Wade Crowfoot, senior advisor to Gov. Brown, and State Senator Fran Pavley. Read a full report on the meeting here.
