Oct. 25, Wednesday -- Michael Hart, chief executive officer of Sierra Railways, will speak about the "Excitement of Entrepreneurship" at an event to launch two UC Davis business competitions, The Big Bang! Business Plan Competition and the Little Bang poster competition. Aspiring entrepreneurs and potential entrants in either competition will learn what's needed to participate. The Little Bang poster competition, which links research results to market opportunity, encourages graduate students in the sciences and engineering to explore the commercial potential of their research. It concludes in March. The Big Bang! Business Plan competition, which ends in May, helps entrepreneurs transform ideas into action by developing a complete business plan. In total, about $40,000 in prizes will be awarded. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center on campus.
