Jan. 19, Wednesday -- State Sen. Denise Moreno Ducheny, D-San Diego, will discuss the state budget and the importance of lawyers serving in the legislature in a noon-hour presentation at UC Davis. Ducheny was elected in 2002 to the state Senate to represent the 40th District and serves as chair of the Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. As a state assemblywoman from 1994 to 2000, she served as chair and vice-chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Education Finance, chair of the Select Committee on California-Mexico Affairs, co-chair of the Special Committee on Welfare Reform, vice-chair of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee and vice-chair of the Latino legislative caucus. Her presentation will run from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 2008 of King Hall. The event has been organized by the La Raza Law Students Association at the School of Law.
