March 4, Thursday -- Digital downloading and copyright will be the focus of a panel discussion at the School of Law. Speaking at "Digital Divide: New Currents in Digital Downloading" will be representatives of the Recording Industry Association of America; a Los Angeles law firm that represents Pearl Jam and the Goo Goo Dolls; the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which works to protect the public's access to and use of material on the Internet and Web; and Creative Commons, which, aiming to make creative works available to others, helps creators set the level of copyright they want. The free event is sponsored by the school's Entertainment and Sports Law Society and California Lawyers for the Arts. It will begin at 6 p.m. in King Hall with a reception.
