* Aug. 29, Wednesday -- Steven Schier, professor and chair of the political science department at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., will speak on "What Bill Clinton Can Teach George W. Bush." He is author of, among other books, "By Invitation Only: The Rise of Exclusive Politics in the United States," and he edited "The Postmodern Presidency: Bill Clinton's Legacy in American Politics." He is currently writing a book on the problems of the American electoral system. Schier's presentation, sponsored by the Institute of Governmental Affairs and the political science department at UC Davis, will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 273 of the Social Sciences and Humanities Building.
