HDT to Rearrange Its Testing Operations

Quick Summary

  • The Cannery site will close after this Friday (Nov. 5)
  • Move allows for added capacity at Research Park site
  • Research Park handles symptomatic, asymptomatic testing

Healthy Davis Together, or HDT, announced it is closing its COVID-19 testing site at the Farm House at The Cannery in north Davis after this Friday (Nov. 5). Officials said the move will allow the UC Davis-city of Davis partnership to consolidate operations and boost symptomatic testing capacity at the HDT site at Research Park location in south Davis.

HDT at Research Park is one of two HDT testing sites — the other is the Veterans Memorial Center — that welcome UC Davis employees and students for walk-in tests (no appointments needed) and will automatically upload the results into the Health-e-Messaging system to record compliance with the university’s testing requirements. (Healthy Yolo Together does the same for employees and students at its West Sacramento site.)

Unlike the Farm House site in north Davis, HDT at Research Park includes a separate indoor space to conduct saliva-based tests for people who have COVID-19 symptoms or have had an exposure to COVID. HDT at Research Park also provides rapid antigen testing for people with COVID symptoms.

Officials said the indoor space and added capacity for symptomatic testing are important as the weather changes and testing people outside becomes less of an option, and as more people seek tests for symptoms shared by COVID-19 and the common cold, including sore throat or fever.

“As we head into cold and flu season, continued regular testing, even after vaccination, is critical to protect each other from COVID-19,” said Sheri Belafsky, medical director for Healthy Davis Together and director of the Medical Surveillance Program for UC Davis Health.

Here are the HDT testing sites and hours:

  • HDT at Research Park — 1632 Da Vinci Court in south Davis, open seven days a week, 8-11:15 a.m. and noon-5:30 p.m. Saliva-based testing for people with or without symptoms and exposure to COVID-19. Rapid tests for people with symptoms or exposure to COVID-19.
  • Veterans Memorial Center — 203 E. 14th St., open weekdays, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:45-4:30 p.m. Saliva-based testing for people with and without symptoms.

Healthy Davis Together also takes appointments for testing at the Activities and Recreation Center, or ARC, on the UC Davis campus. The ARC site — offering saliva-based testing for people without symptoms — is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, with extended hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Healthy Yolo Together’s West Sacramento site, 1110 W. Capitol Ave., offers saliva-based testing for people with and without COVID-19 symptoms. It is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and 1:30-5:30 p.m. .
