Grady Webster, professor emeritus of plant biology, Botanical Conservatory curators Ernesto Sandoval and Tim Metcalf, and Associate Director of Development for Biological Sciences Roberto Avalos take in the teaching greenhouse in the new Sciences Laboratory Building on Hutchison Drive. The 140,000-square-foot building, due to open in early 2005, will bring all lab instruction in the Division of Biological Sciences under one roof. It will house teaching laboratories for classes in biological sciences and chemistry, areas for private and small-group study, computer labs, and new space for the UC Davis Herbarium.
