Emergency Services Respond to Plane Crash

UC Davis Fire and Police Departments, with assistance from Davis and Dixon Fire Departments, responded to a small plane crash south of the University Airport today (June 16). A fire at the scene was extinguished and the pilot declined transport to hospital.

The incident began about 11:22 a.m. A light plane with solo pilot had just taken off from the airport when the pilot reported smoke and flames in the cockpit. The pilot made a forced landing in a field near Vineyard Lane, south of Putah Creek. They were able to exit the plane by themselves.

Firefighters arriving on scene offered first aid and extinguished a small vegetation fire. The pilot declined transport to hospital.
