Feb. 25, Friday -- The intersection of development and the environment will be the focus of a symposium at UC Davis. Panelists for a session on "City and County Growth Limit Measures: The California Experience" will be Gary Patton of LandWatch Monterey County; Al Sokolow, a pubic policy specialist at UC Davis; Richard Taylor of Shute Mihaly & Weinberger's initiative committee, which has drafted many Bay Area growth measures; Ken Wagstaff, mayor of Davis when the city passed its Measure J growth initiative; and Terry Watt, an environmental planner and consultant. Speakers for "The California Environmental Quality Act: Effects and Trends" include Sandra Ikuta, deputy secretary and general counsel for the California Resources Agency; Jim Moose of Remy, Thomas, Moose and Manley; Randy Pestor, a consultant to the California Senate Environmental Quality Committee; and Bill Yeates of Bill Yeates and Associates. The event, presented by the Environmental Law Society at the School of Law, runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center on campus.
