The UC Davis women's volleyball team is headed to the postseason for the first time since moving up to Division I in 2007. The Aggies will open play Wednesday (Dec. 4) in Long Beach in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
This makes the third Aggie team to advance to postseason play. The others: men’s soccer, which played in the NCAA tournament, losing to Louisville; and men’s water polo, which will open play Thursday (Dec. 5) in the NCAA tournament in Stockton.
The Aggie volleyball team finished the regular season with a 17-12 overall record and a 9-7 mark in the Big West Conference to end the year in a tie for fourth with Long Beach State. The 17 wins are the most for the program since the 2012 campaign (17-14) while the nine league wins are the most since the 2015 squad finished 10-6.
In the volleyball tournament’s first round, UC Davis will take on Tulsa in the first game of a doubleheader at 5 p.m., with host Long Beach State taking on Santa Clara at 7 p.m. The winners of the two contests will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 5).
The matches will be streamed live. Read more on the UC Davis Athletics website.
