THE DOWNLOAD: Global Aggies, Chef Challenge

The Office of Global Affairs is sharing stories of Global Aggies, members of the UC Davis community who are living the Global Affairs mission: to inspire global curiosity, understanding and engagement. Two of those Global Aggies are women’s basketball players Sage Stobbart, from Canada, majoring in environmental science, and Lena Svanholm, from Denmark, majoring in chemistry and German. In the above video, they share what global learning at UC Davis means to them.

Chefs use low-cost ingredients for Dining Services-wide challenge

Each quarter, Dining Services hosts the Chef Challenge, where each head chef and a team of sous-chefs compete to develop a recipe that produces the best dish possible, according to a special theme or challenge. This year, the chefs are working with the ASUCD Pantry and Aggie Compass to develop a meal that can be made for less than $1.25 per plate.

Each chef must use a series of mandatory ingredients, and they earn extra points for using an optional ingredient. Judges try each meal, and score it on appearance, creativity and taste.

All of the Chef Challenge entries are served in their respective dining locations as a chef special soon after the Chef Challenge is completed. See the schedule and more information on the Dining Services website.
