Robbery Call Turns Out to Be ‘False Report’

Campus police are investigating a reported armed robbery that occurred at about 4:20 p.m. today (Aug. 17) in the area behind the Hyatt Place hotel at the south edge of the central campus. No one had been arrested.

A crime alert sent via the university's WarnMe system described the incident as a robbery and assault with fist and knife. No additional information was available on the circumstances.

Police described the assailant as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-6, with a medium build and light facial hair. He was wearing tan cargo pants, a white shirt with a logo, and a tan, brimmed hat.

Police advised people to be cautious in the area and to report suspicious people and activities, by calling 530-752-1230.
