As part of "Achieve UC," UC Davis and other UC campuses hold annual events at schools with lower than average college-going rates. The Nov. 12 event included presentations in classrooms, an assembly, a lunch for high-achieving seniors and a college resource fair. 

UC Davis and Grant, one of the oldest high schools in the area, have partnered for more than three decades to help more students reach for and achieve a college education.

UC Davis' Early Academic Opportunity Program, which organized the event, is one of five UC-sponsored college preparation programs through which UC Davis serves more than 25,000 students and 40 schools in Northern California.

UC Davis expresses its condolences to Grant Union and the family and friends of student Jaulon Clavo, who was fatally shot the day after the Achieve UC event at the school. Our thoughts are also with student Malik Johnson, who was injured in the same shooting.
