An Aggie helped hoist the Major League Soccer championship cup over the weekend.
Max Arfsten played as a member of the Columbus Crew team that defeated Los Angeles Football Club 2-1 in the MLS Cup final Saturday (Dec. 9). The team celebrated with a parade through Columbus, Ohio, today.
“Proud to be a part of this family,” Arfsten said on social media after the win.
Arfsten, a forward, was selected by the Columbus Crew in the 2023 draft. His first goal for the team came in a March game against Atlanta United, and he went on to score twice more this season.
He previously played for the San Jose Earthquakes’ reserve team, and at UC Davis was named Big West Offensive Player of the Year during his last season in 2021.
Social media users were quick to remind Arfsten of his UC Davis roots, with one joking on his Instagram post about the championship: “Practice starts at 5:15 a.m. in Hickey (Gym) tomorrow, be there.”
