Sacramento's Music Circus receives inclusivity award 

The Sacramento-based theater company Music Circus has been making theater productions accessible for the blind community for the past 10 years. Blind patrons can listen to audio descriptions via an earpiece during live shows, as well as go backstage to speak with actors and touch clothing and wigs before each show. On Tuesday, the American Council of the Blind presented Music Circus with a plaque for their service to the blind during a virtual ceremony. Learn more here

YoloArts Board of Directors welcomes UC Davis fellow, MBA candidate

YoloArts just welcomed Lindsay Laughlin, a second year MBA candidate at UC Davis, to serve as a UC Davis Fellow on their board of directors. YoloArts and Laughlin were brought together as part of the UC Davis Board Fellowship Program that “...places MBA students (Fellows) on the boards of directors of partner organizations as non-voting, or adjunct, members and allows these students to contribute skills and time to help solve business challenges faced by partner organizations.” Learn more here

Local art galleries reopen 

Do you want to appreciate some art, safely? Several local galleries make that possible without even leaving the neighborhood. 

The local Pence Art Gallery resumed normal hours (Tuesday to Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) as of Wednesday, July 1. All visitors must wear a mask and practice social distancing. The exhibit Kindred Connections: Art by Marti Schoen & Binuta Sudhakaran is on now through Sunday, Aug. 16. On Friday, July 10, two new exhibits will premiere: Slice: A Juried Exhibit and David Olivant: Because I Know I Shall Not Know

The John Natsoulas Center for the Arts is open by appointment. Simply call the day you would like to visit to reserve a time. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It is open noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Ilaria Rosselli Del Turco & 30 Ceramic Sculptors Exhibition is on view through Aug.1.
