Pedrito Martinez Group at the Mondavi

When the Pedrito Martinez Group takes the stage, a wave of pure energy embraces the audience. A tireless, incomparable performer, Cuban percussionist and singer Martinez heads a band whose sole mission is to raise the roof and share in the infectious joy of music making. Martinez has worked with a who’s who of musicians including Paul Simon, Eddie Palmieri, Sting and Wynton Marsalis, the latter of whom considers Martinez a “genius” and revelation to work with.

Sketchcrawl in the Arboretum

Meet on the south steps of Mrak Hall at 10:30 a.m., then set off along the Arboretum Waterway where you may want to sketch recent improvements in the east end: new concrete weirs that allow for a gentle flow of water, banks restored to a more natural look with new plantings, and new pathways.

Free and open to all, children included. All you need is something to draw with and something to draw on. Also consider brings a snack or two and perhaps a lightweight stool (because you may not find a bench where you want to draw). Meet back on the Mrak Hall steps to share at 1:30 p.m.
