Dear Classes of 2020 and 2021,

Congratulations to all of you on this joyous and significant occasion in your life! This past year and a half have presented extraordinary challenges, but you have persisted, excelled, and completed your degree. For this, you should feel very proud.

We are celebrating other achievements today, as well. As UC Davis degree candidates, you have met the high standards and rigorous requirements of your major at a world-class university. You have enriched our campus community with the things that make you unique, including your academic strengths, passionate interests, and personal background. And you have grown your ability to consider new ideas with an open mind, to think critically and carefully, and to engage with the world guided by both empathy and a sense of responsibility.

Speaking as a proud Aggie alumna myself, I know how well UC Davis has prepared you for your future, and also how much you will continue to value the memories and friendships defining your time here. I invite all of you, our extraordinary about-to-be graduates, to keep connected to your Alma Mater and fellow Aggies, and I wish you great success and happiness in the years ahead!

All the best,

Mary S. Croughan Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
